Outer Banks Recap
By Kip Tabb –

Proposed Outer Banks Event Site. Informational workshop will be held December 3 at the Comfort Inn North.
Over the course of a week, here at the North Beach Sun, we get quite a number of press releases and informational bulletins. Rather than run all of them, here’s some highlight of the information we have received over the past week.
National Park Service News
Changes to Visitor Services in Outer Banks Parks
This one is troubling and disappointing. In the wake of the Congressional budget showdown and ongoing sequester, the National Park Service is cutting back on services and eliminating the temporary structures—the Pavilions at the Wright Memorial Monument, closing some offices on Mondays and Tuesday through March and cutting back on staff.
The Pavilion will be closed to save on maintenance and utility costs.
“We wish we did not have to reduce our visitor services, and we know a lot of people will be disappointed, but we had to make some difficult decisions regarding park operations and priorities,” Superintendent Barclay Trimble said.
